Functional testing

The finished point is checked properly, including the practical behaviour that matters day to day.

Serving Brent, wider NW London, and selected West London postcodes. For outdoor lighting, send your postcode plus photos of the fitting, the area it covers and the switch or control point.

Functional testing is part of a sensible outdoor-lighting visit. It checks that the finished point works from the switch or control, that aiming and sensor behaviour make sense where the fitting allows, and that any limitation is explained before handover.

What usually gets checked

  • Confirm the light operates from the switch, spur, PIR, photocell or control arrangement that applies to the job.
  • Check the useful light lands where expected, without obvious glare or wasted spill.
  • Set or sense-check PIR timing, sensitivity and dusk behaviour where the fitting allows.
  • Explain any manual override, reset behaviour or product limitation in plain English before handover.

What can change the scope

  • Hidden damage, water ingress, poor previous work or access constraints can turn a test-and-adjust visit into repair or replacement work.
  • Some checks can only be fully judged in the right light conditions, so the final outcome still depends on what is confirmed on site.
